Hålogaland Court of Appeals is one of the six ordinary appeal courts of Norway.

The Court hears appeals against decisions made in criminal and sivil cases in the district courts of Northern Norway. Hålogaland Court of Appeals covers a very large area with appeals from Nordland, Troms and Finnmark.

Hålogaland Court of Appeals is located in Tromsø, but courtmeetings are also held on a regular basis in the court houses in Bodø and Mosjøen. And courtmeetings are also often held in other locations in the Northern districts.

The court is staffed by 15 judges, Head of Administration and 8 executive officers.
In each case three judges will serve, in criminal cases usually together with lay judges or a jury. The Court’s decisions may be appealed to Norway’s Supreme Court in Oslo.
