Openness in the administration of justice is the principal in Norway. That means that the public and press have access as a rule to court proceedings and to judgements made by the courts.
School visits to the Norwegian courts
Schools often visit a court to follow its proceedings. In such instances, the courts will always do their best to ensure that students get as much out of their visit as possible. Contact the court you want to visit to pick a date, a suitable case that will run for more than one day and a courtroom big enough to take the whole class. Once the date is arranged, the teacher will receive practical details. Please make your arrangements well in advance (preferably two months) for the purposes of preparation and planning.
