4.1 Enhancing and highlighting the independence of the courts
4.2 Strengthening the courts’ position in the budget process
4.3 Certainty for judges and other court employees
The independence of courts and judges should be better enshrined in the Norwegian Constitution and law. The Third Estate must have a more independent position in the government’s and Storting’s budget processes. The process for determining judges’ salaries should be established by law.
Adequate physical security should be established in the workplace, and a compensation scheme should be introduced for the court’s staff in the event of serious security incidents.
