Why must a document be notarised?
Notarisation may be necessary for documents to be used abroad. Foreign authorities, organisations or enterprises will normally require a document to be notarised. A document will often require additional verification in the form of an apostil from the County Governor's Office, or legalisation through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, depending upon which country the document will be used in.
Do you have to make an appointment for notarisation?
Some Courts require an advance appointment, others do not.
Which types of notarisation are provided by the Notary Public?
The Notary Public provides different types of notarisation. The verification provided depends on the type of document, and what documentation you present.
How can you obtain a notarisation?
Certain types of notarisation require your personal presence and proof of identity. Proof of identity accepted by the notary public is:
- passport
- driving licence issued in Norway (credit card size)
- bank ID/debit cards with photo issued in Norway
- national ID cards from Norway or other EEA and EFTA states
What is the cost of a notarisation?
You have to pay a fee to get a document notarised. The fee is NOK 310 per notarised document. The fee must be paid in advance at our reception. We encourage our customers to pay with a debit card/credit card.
