Justices

The Supreme Court of Norway consists of 20 justices, led by the Chief Justice. Maintaining a broadly representative composition of the Court is considered important.

The justices are drawn from different parts of the country and bring a wide range of professional backgrounds and experience. They are recruited from both the public and private sectors, and diversity of career paths is regarded as a strength. The Court should also reflect a balanced gender and age composition. Above all, however, appointments are based on outstanding professional qualifications.
