All civil and criminal cases are heard in the District Courts as the courts of first instance
Most civil cases are handled by the Conciliation Boards, which are mediation bodies that have a certain power to enter judgment as well. If the parties don`t agree, the case can be grought before the district court. Other types of civil cases starts directly at this level.
All criminal cases starts in the district courts.
Any party that is unhappy with the result of a civil case can bring it before the Court of Appeal.
Types of cases
Besides civil and criminal cases, the courts also consider cases on enforcement, bankruptcy, debt settlement (composition), division of joint property and decedent estates. Issue of official certification is also a task.
The country is divided into judicial districts, with one District Court each.
